"The Hydetown Borough Council recognized the need for a local fire department after many years of purchasing fire protection from Titusville. Hydetown Council President and Mayor traveled to many area fire departments to seek advice on starting a new fire department from scratch.

Plans were then made to build a 50 x 100 foot fire station on land donated by the borough, and located next to the Hydetown Post Office. On April 15, 1987 a group of Hydetown volunteer fireman set the first 6 x 6 poles for the present fire station. The building was completed by November 1987 with most of the work done by local volunteers. In recent years three additions have been added to increase the size to 75 x 100 foot. We are also thinking of expanding our social hall even more. To make more table and chair space.

The Hydetown station has four large truck bays, a radio room, office, storage room, lounge area, a social hall with 125 plus seating and modern well equipped kitchen, and bathrooms. We also have a generator that runs the whole building if there is a power outage. We are also an Emergency Disaster Center.

The Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department hosts weekly Thursday night bingo's. The social hall is available to rent for wedding receptions and other social events. Our department sponsors the Hydetown Fireman's Festival and parade, Gun Raffles, Safety Days, Money Extravaganza, and other fund-raisers through out the year."
