This guy (common map turtle)was on his way across the busy road dodging semis and cars to the left and right. I saw him and pulled over real quick and ran back to get him. He was friendly enough, we exchanged a few good turtle stories and I set him on the grass so he could continue on his way towards the water nearby.
This was in June of 2011. In that month turtles all over the state went bonkers. They were crossing roads everywhere. This was the third one I saw in a week. All were in totally different places and none that I had ever seem turtles cross before.
