Canada's Cold War Museum (the Diefenbunker) was once Canadian Forces Station Carp. Until 1994, CFS Carp was the nation's top-secret Central Emergency Government Headquarters.
The CLM Industries' sirens have been brought in for display as museum pieces. One siren, for example, on loan from Canadian War Museum was originally located on a tower in Hawkesbury.
CFS Carp would have had no real purpose for these sirens on site. In the event of a Cold War emergency, the Central Emergency Government Headquarters did not want the residents of Carp responding to wailing sirens, thinking they might find safety in the top-secret bunker.
