In Monson, on Main Street, is a large, cubic red brick building, with a white dated block over the front entrance with the year, 1925.
Engraved below the year are the words, "Monson High School." The building does have an appearance of a school, especially of the early 1900s. But, the building is no longer used as a high school. The school is now located north of town on Margaret Street.
The building, recently, had been used for the town offices. Unfortunately, a tornado rated EF-3 ripped through the town and significantly damaged this building. The town offices have been moved to another school in town. The building is now (at least mostly) vacant, with plywood on many windows, and covering on the roof. There is also a chain link fence.
Hopefully, the building will be repaired and the town offices moved back in place. While it stands, though, it is still a building with a dated stone.
