Denbies Hillside, part of which is named Steers Field. Steers Field is the flat plateau on the top of the hill and is ideal for visiting with picnics. In summer you will find that this place can be quite busy with families visiting to have their picnic. Although if you can walk a little way left or right of the car park you will have more space. An ideal place for children to run around, without coming into any trouble or danger.
Over the top of the hill the steepish sides dip down into the valley and Leith castle can be clearly seen on the horizon about 5ish miles away. Leith castle is mounted on top of the highest hill in south east England.
Denbies Hillside, is also a magnet for walkers, not only those passing through whilst walking the North Downs Way. But also, those who park in the local car park can follow the 2 mile waymarked national trust trail, which takes you over the hill side and areas rich in flowers, and wildlife. Butterflies are plentiful in this area. In the woodlands close by are several WW2 pillboxes, which are a reminder of the capitals war time defenses.

Access to Denbies hill is free. However the car park will cost non members £2.50 per visit. This visit can be all day, which is outstanding value for money.
