This reservoir is one of my favorites in Portugal, perhaps because there is a nearby campsite where one can spend the night and experience the best of the reservoir quiet atmosphere: the sunset and the dawn. It's wonderful to observe all those animals in the wild (rabbits, all sorts of birds, frogs, etc).
The dam was inaugurated in 1972, it has a capacity of 96.000.000 m³ of water and its purpose it's mainly provide water for irrigation.
