This granite obelisk is located across the road from the Shiloh Methodist Church. Farmer, techer, road builder, State Representative, U.S. Congressman, Governor of Tennessee, Friend of the People. What is left off is his behavior while Governor, behavior such that the Governor who succeeded him was sworn in three days early to prevent the continuation of a series of dubious pardons and commutations of sentences of the relatives of Blanton's friends and supporters which Blanton was handing out.
