This monument is dedicated to the memory of John Robert Jones.For his services to Heritage as a foundation member of the Palmer River Historic Preservation Society.
Erected by his mates 15 September 1991.
It is located in the heart of the Historic Palmer River Gold fields, some 250kms north west of Cairns.This table gives a view of the distances that needed to be travelled by the early Gold fossicers to reach civilization.

Location, Palmer River Gold Fields. Access, Via fair roads during dry season only, not to be attempted during wet season, 4WD only
