Before the day of the large fire truck, the Union City Fire Company used to be stationed here. The building has been extensively remodeled and little trace of the fire departments existence remains with the exception of the garage door on the right. That area is still used as a garage by the Union City Police Department. There is also an outdoor warning siren on top of the building which replaced a fire bell many years ago. The fire department's quarters were on the third floor and there was a fire pole that allowed quick access to the ground floor.
