The Union City "City Building" was constructed in 1884 and once housed the fire department as well as the borough offces and police department as it does today. Only the first floor is actively used today by both the Borough Secretary and the Union City Police Department. On the second floor is a gymnasium/auditorium which was used by the old high school which is just south of here. It was retired from use when a new school was built on the edge of town in the early 70s. There is also a no longer used radio room that was used to dispatch police and fire calls.
