The bust of Osceola stands on the outdoor path at the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians. He is shown wearing Indian garb with several strings of beads, a scarf at the neck, and a feather facing downward from his hair. The bust sits atop a concrete pillar with a plaque that reads:

Osceola (Asi-Yahola)
1804 – 1838
Who Held a Home Land in Florida
For the Seminoles As Their War Chief

Osceola was a Seminole war leader. He led the Seminoles in resisting relocation from Florida to West of the Mississippi River. When traveling to negotiate with U.S. forces, he was captured and imprisoned. This caused a national uproar and General Thomas Jessup was condemned for it. Osceola died of malaria and was buried with military honors at Fort Moultrie in Charleston, SC.
