The bust of Allen Wright stands just east of the museum building at the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians. He is shown wearing a suit and vest, with a bow tie. The bronze plaque reads:

ALLEN WRIGHT (Kilihote)
1826 – 1885
Principal Chief of Choctaw Nation
Gave Oklahoma Its Name

Allen Wright was born in Mississippi and moved to Indian Territory in 1833-34. He was a minister, educator, translator and statesman. He graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York and Union Theological Seminary. He was the first Indian from Indian Territory to receive an M.A. degree. He is buried at Old Boggy Depot in Atoka County.
