The sculpture is a bronze sculpture of George Washington at age 43 wearing his Continental Army uniform. He holds a sword in both hands in front of him. The statue is standing on a pedestal. In front of the pedestal the a statue of a woman and a child are standing. The man is pointing up to George Washington and the child is looking up to him. The statue gift of Miss Elizabeth Plankinton to the City of Milwaukee in 1885. The statue is reportedly the first first public monument of Washington erected west of the state of Virginia.
