The Old Deeside Line is a former railway line which is now a popular walking, cycling and horse riding route from the heart of Aberdeen to countryside of Aberdeenshire.

The railway opened on 8th September 1853 and closed in 1966. It ran originally from Aberdeen to Banchory but was extended to Ballater in 1866, a total distance of 43.5 miles.

Culter Station served Peterculter, the most westerly station within Aberdeen City, and was the last station on the Line to close in December 1966. Today it is the best preserved station within the City with the platforms clearly visible along with the remains of the footbridge over the Line.

The station was an important freight station serving the Culter paper mill. The mill site is now private housing.

Travelling east or west from Culter Station there are panoramic views across the Dee Valley.
