A plaque & stone tablet dedicated to the Right Honourable William Morris Hughes in Llandudno.
William Morris Hughes was born in London on the 25th September 1862, later moving to Llandudno after the death of his mother to live with his father's sister. In October 1884, at the age of 22, he emigrated to Australia where he quickly became involved in politics. He became prime minister in 1916.
The plaque in bi-lingual, the English text reads:
WILLIAM MORRIS HUGHES
1862 - 1952
Prime Minister of Australia.
Brought up in Llandudno and revisited the town
twice in his lifetime.
and the Welsh text reads:
WILLIAM MORRIS HUGHES
1862 - 1952
Prif Weinidog Awstralia.
Fe'i magwyd un Llandudno ac ail-ymwelodd a'r
tref dwywaith yn ystod ei oes.
There is also a stone tablet above the blocked-up doorway, which reads:
