A summit of Großer Donnerkogel (2054m), one of the peaks of Gosaukamm in Dachsteingebirge.
Großer Donnerkogel is a 2054 metres (6739 ft) high summit of Northwestern Gosaukamm group in Dachsteingebrige mountains.
It towers over 1000 metres above Vorder Gosausee lake on the border of provinces of Oberosterreich and Salzburg, and offers 360-degrees views.
Access:
You can park by Gosausee lake and climb to the top of Donnerkogel via Gablonzer Hutte (challet) in about 3 hours, with possibility to save some time and power thanks to cableway Gosaukammbahn.
In such case you're starting to hike in elevation 1480 metres and can choose between classic marked hiking path (not too difficult "steig" through southwestern saddle Torlecksattel, karst terrain) or via ferrata (difficulty C/D).
Another starting points can be mountain challets Stuhlalm or Theodor-Korner Hutte.
