Rochester Cathedral is the head church for the diocese of Rochester, which covers a large area of south east England. This cathedral is the second oldest in the UK and dates from AD604 on land donated by King Ethelbert. The cathedral has expanded over the years and is a place of pilgrimage for many thousand of people visiting the shrine of William of Perth who was murdered in the 13th Century, and his body was brought to the shrine has tales of miracles from those visiting.
If you come here, then visiting the inside of this place of worship is a must do event. I have been here several times, and each time I visit I see something new.
A full history at the web site about this cathedral can be found below. It makes an interesting read.
