Copper Harbor has had several lighthouses over the years, first being built in 1848 and the second in 1866. This waymark is for the keepers dwelling for the 1848 lighthouse. Allowed to fall into disrepair over the years, this photograph was taken at a time when some of the architectural details remained.

Now part of the Fort Wilkins State Park, the building has been restored to look much as it did in those early days. Unfortunately a tree has grown at the right side of the house which now blocks the lighthouse from being seen from this location.
