The June 2001 strip for "The Purple Cow" shows a car dealership in the first panel - which has gone out of business. In the last frame, Zippy sees a "Dairy Queen" on the corner which was likely reference to the ice cream shop also on this site - but no more.
A contributor to the Roadside America listing stated that this landmark Purple Cow was set up in 1964 for a restuarant. Another article states that the local 911 organization decided to name the nearby street "Purple Cow Road" due to the area's familiarity with the icon.
