This relatively modern window is to be found in the south wall of the chancel in this old village church. It is the only stained glass in this old village church.
The dedication reads:
To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Arthur George Berry and
Mary his Wife this window is dedicated by their daughters. Feb.10th 1904.
The window is of two panes and showsangels, four images and various quotes in scrolls.
In the left-hand pane at the top two angels, one with a harp, the other with a scroll saying: 'To thee all Angels cry and the Heavens and all the Powers therein'. Below these are two images, one is St.Peter with the key to heaven and a cross, the other holding a scroll which is possibly Isiah holding a scroll saying: 'That saith unto Zion thy God reigneth', (from Isaiah ch52:vv7). Further down the window is a scroll saying: 'The glorious company of the Apostles praise thee. The goodly fellowship of the Prophets praise thee.'
In the right-hand pane two angels, one with a violin, the other with a scroll saying: 'To thee Cherubin & Seraphin continually do cry' fly above two more images, a martyr holding a palm frond, and a bishop holding a crosier and a castle/church. This could be either Saint Eligius or Saint Ghislain. At the foot is a scroll saying: 'The noble army of Martyrs praise thee. The holy Church throughout all the world doth acknowledge thee'.
Apart from the quote from Isiah the other quotes are from that great song of the church the Te Deum or Te Deum Laudamus, 'We praise thee, O God' the full text of which can be found here. Te Deum
