The City of Green Bay is located at the head of Green Bay, a sub-basin of Lake Michigan, at the mouth of the Fox River. It has an elevation of 581 feet (177 m) above sea level and is located 112 miles (180 km) north of Milwaukee. As of the 2010 United States Census, Green Bay had a population of 104,057.
Green Bay is the third-largest city in the state of Wisconsin, after Milwaukee and Madison. It is also the third-largest city on the west shore of Lake Michigan, after Chicago and Milwaukee.
Green Bay is the principal city of the Green Bay Metropolitan Area, which covers Brown, Kewaunee, and Oconto Counties and had a combined population of 282,599 at the 2000 census. The 2010 population of the Green Bay metropolitan area is 306,241.
