The tallest armour in the world, for a man measuring 205 cm was etched and gilded by Master AB (possibly Bonaventura Abt). This once-fine armour probably entered the Tower of London as a diplomatic gift in the early 17th century. Other armours for very tall men survive in Brunswick, German. By 1628 this armour had become wrongly known as that of John Gaunt (1340 - 1399), Duke of Lancaster, a soldier who great height was legendary.
