The walk is approx. 12 kilometres return & is suitable for the seasoned bushwalker only. Do not attempt this walk without a map (Hill Top - 8929) and compass (a mapping GPSr will not suffice). It would be best done in the cooler months or early in the morning in Summer. The track is undulating & goes in & out of several deep gullies. You will negotiate large sections of sandstone where the track will be hard to discern.
There are no safety barriers at the lookout & the cliffs are 100 metres + in height so be careful. The lookout affords wonderful views over the river valley, nearby cliffs & beyond. If you know what you are looking for you can see Mount Colong and Yerranderrie Peak in the distance.
Bring plenty of water, your camera & something to eat. I haven't encountered ticks however use repellent & keep an eye out for snakes.
The walk can be completed in 3 hours. Before you go consult the NPWS website for any closures: (
