Stewart on the Green started in the founding of the Borough of Ohiopyle by borough founder Andrew Stewart who deeded this block of the "Falls City" as green space. In 2011, the park was renovted and known as its current name and has a small shelter, Play Area and Basketball Court and was dedicated on August 31, 2011.
This new park would not be possible if not for the partnership of the Borough of Ohiopyle, DCNR (Ohiopyle State Park, in which the 1/2 square mile borough completely surrounds), Friends of Ohiopyle State Park, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, and several others.
There are rain gardens here as well to help preserve runoff from heading to the Youghiogheny River.
