The OLD PUBLIC SCHOOL, NE corner Main and 4th Streets, stands well back from the street among old trees and high weeks, its front door boarded up; the present east wing with its odd square bell tower and octagonal cupola was built in 1844. The west section was added later, and housed the Corbit Library until it was removed to the David Wilson house. The dividing line is very clear between the older and newer parts of the brick structure.

Good news is that the formerly abandoned school in 1938 was found in 2011 to be renovated and used as the Odessa Town Hall. Very nice historical town to which I would recommend a visit.
