Here is another sculpture owned by the Government of Ontario and on display at the MacDonald Block in downtown Toronto.

"Jack Harman was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1927 and died in 2001. He studied at the Vancouver School of Art and the Slade and Hammersmith Schools of Art in England. Upon his return to Canada in 1955, the artist joined the staff of the Vancouver School of Art. He also taught at the Extension Department of the University of British Columbia. During this period, Harman was awarded a Canada Council grant in 1963 and he has won several sculpture competitions. His work has been exhibited widely throughout Canada and the Western United States.

As is the case with most of his pieces, this bronze sculpture was cast by the artist, rather than by a commercial foundry. Mother and Child illustrates clearly the influence that Henry Moore and Sir Jacob Epstein had on Harman while he was studying in England."
