This J.D. Wetherspoon pub opened on 7th June 2011 in premises at the rear of the Moors Centre. It has renovated an existing pub called JJ’s pub and cafe bar.

The new name is a reference to an older pub in Ilkey called the Listers Arms that opened in 1825 near to this modern pub. The older pub’s first tenant was James Lister, hence the name and finally closed in the late 1980s.

The picture on the sign looks like a loose interpretation of the stag on the Lister family crest, but I don’t think it has anything to do with James Lister from the older pub.
