This Ilkley pub in Yorkshire has chosen to use the white rose of Yorkshire on the sign.
It underwent a major refurbishment in 2010, and at the weekends stays open as a late night venue. As indicated by the sign the pub is still known as the Rose and Crown but will open from Thursday to Sundays as Renaissance.
The pub at one time was a coaching house with a connection to Leeds. Darwin used the coach from Leeds to the pub in 1859, when he came to ‘take the waters’ at Ilkley, which at that time was becoming well known as a spa town
