Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) was an American playwright who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1936...and the Pulitizer for Drama in 1920, 1922, 1928 & 1957. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" is one of his best known works and was the winner of the 1957 Pulitzer. Most people who have heard about Charlie Chaplin's wife, Oona...probably don't realize that Oona was O'Neill's daughter...who he disowned when she married Chaplin.
