This theater opened in 1921...but was sold in 1935 and used for the next 20 years as a movie theater and NBC Television studio. In 1955, it once again was used to stage Broadway productions...beginning with The Diary of Anne Frank. The play, Chicago has been playing here since 2003. The theater seats a little over 1100 peoople.

Wikipedia (visit link) further informs us:

"Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp for the Shuberts, the structure is unusual in that it is situated diagonally on its site to fit the maximum number of seats possible. Its external appearance, indistinguishable from many other Broadway houses, does not hint at the strange layout within. The building has been designated a New York City landmark.

The theatre opened on February 11, 1921 with the musical The Rose Girl."
