Found by accident while geocaching. From northbound 395, we turned east on Cinder Road, then continued east past the Fossil Falls parking lot spur. This is a decent graded road with some fist- to bowling-ball sized rocks, but passable in a Honda CR-V. We turned north on a less-used road just past the "dry" lake bed and followed the road until we saw a red building on the west side of the road. The marker is west of the red building, in a black lava outcropping.
