This mine, long ago closed is on private property. However some of the old buildings and other ruins can easily be seen alongside the road. The large Machine shop is readily accessible, and remains in decent condition, being used by the sheriff for storage. As is typical in the area, the old waste dumps are slowing being hauled off since they are a ready source of rock for construction.
It was an underground copper mine with 5 shafts which opened in 1882 and closed in 1931. #3 shaft was the deepest at 3,839 feet. It is reported that copper crystals, as well as bornite and chalcocite can be found on the tailing piles.
