The city and province of Mukdahan lie in north eastern Thailand, on the Mekong River, abutting Laos. One of the main tourist attractions of the city is the Mudkahan Tower. On the southern edge of the city, this is a 65m tall tower, constructed in 1996 in honour the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of the King of Thailand.
There is a viewing gallery on top of the tower from which an excellent 360 degree view of the surrounds can be seen. This includes the City of Mukdahan itself and the Mekong River. Across the Mekong can also be seen the Laos city of Savannakhet. This city sits opposite Mukdahan, but is considerably smaller.
The tower is open to visitors in the early evening. One can ascend via a lift, or if one choses, a set of stairs. The fee is a moderate 20 baht (~50c).
