Steep 3.6 mile hiking/horse trail used to reach Sand Cave and White Rocks overlook in Cumberland Gap NHP.

Trailhead located in Thomas Walker Civic Park. From Highway US58 turn north at traffic light onto VA724, and proceed to end of roadway. Park in grass by pit toilets. Trail begins behind covered pavilion.

Ewing Trail is a steep (1700' elevation gain) 3.6 mile path with many switchbacks up to Ridge Trail on the Cumberland Mountain. From there take left/west to head towards Sand Cave or right/east for White Rocks.

Note that gate for civic park is closed and locked each night at dark, but is open each day year around.

Trail allowances or restrictions:
Initial 0.5-0.6 mile is hiking only, but intersects with horse path up to Ridge Trail. Dogs are allowed on leash.
