This Hardy Rose Garden was installed in 1998 to demonstrate the older varieties of roses that may flourish in Colorado's extreme climate. While many people think of Colorado front range as a mountainous climate, we are actually living in a high plains desert. Water comes mainly from snowmelt and is legally sent to other states downstream. The roses that are shown in this garden are of hardier variety that require less water and withstand colder temperatures. The garden is designed as an unplanned garden in keeping with the Tajik (from where the teahouse came as a Sister City Gift) traditions.
The roses were donated by Harlequin's Gardens (
visit link) and are maintained by the Boulder Valley Rose Society (
visit link) . Information is derived from the signage at the rose garden (photo uploaded). Parking is available all around the teahouse. Paid meter parking most of the time.
