Just like really good bread, the Marquette Bakery, which makes really good bread and pastries is hard to find. It's located in the courtyard by the Children's Museum entrance between the Marquette Food Co-op and Dead River Coffee on Baraga Street. While there are a few tables where customers can enjoy their purchases, the primary focus in take away baked goods.
Peter Claybaker, the Owner/Head Baker, started his baking journey in 1991 when he received a sourdough culture as a gift. Trained under French, American and German Master Bakers, his goal is to provide baked goods that let his customers taste how good bread can be.
