The Smithsonian Inventory's (visit link) 2 sentence description of this work is
"A cube balanced on one corner, which rotates around a central axis if pushed. The cube has various geometric cut-outs on the surface."
The 8 x 8 x 8 ft. cube is hollow inside...and until I read the Inventory's description, it was not apparent that the work rotates. Some bumper stickers have unfortunately been attached to the 1966-1967 piece.

Wikipedia (visit link) informs us that the work was originally placed here temporarily...but quickly became a permanent meeting place.
The artist, Tony Rosenthal was an American abstract sculptor (1914-2009). See his Wikipedia page at (visit link) and his personal website at (visit link) - both of which feature additional photos of this work.
