Long Description:

This giant sundial graces the front rose garden of the Morehead Planetarium and Observatory at UNC, Chapel Hill. It is about 35 feet in diameter. As the story goes, the planetarium director insisted that the sundial be "accurate enough to catch a train". While passenger trains no longer stop in Chapel Hill, this is one remarkably accurate sundial.
