A life size statue of Larry Bird is located on the second level of the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. A popular sports legend, Larry Bird was the overall sixth draft choice in 1978 and played basketball for the Boston Celtics until 1992. He later coached the Indiana Pacers from 1997 - 2000. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998.
A sports hero in Massachusetts, the statue of Larry Bird shooting what appears to be a foul shot is one of the most popular exhibits at the Basketball Hall of Fame. He is the only player to have a his own statue on display. He is wearing the familiar Celtic number 33 green jersey.
