Long Description:
Jack Durant moved to Phoenix in 1950 from Las Vegas and opened his steak house soon thereafter. Prior to coming to Phoenix, Jack had been a pit boss at the Flamingo Hotel. Durant got mixed up in the murder of a rival casino owner and was asked by authorities to leave Nevada.
Durant's opened in September 1950 and has remained largely unchanged since then. Durant's has been described as "old school cool." Inside one can expect to find low lighting, red vinyl booths, red wallpaper, and wood paneling. The waiters are decked out in tuxedos. There's a "front" door off Central Avenue, but regulars enter through the kitchen.
If you go, be prepared to shell out some big bucks.
