The Oil City Post 464 brought this statue to the area on July 4, 1939 after a short delay from it's original Nov. 11th date. It's brother statue "THE SPIRIT OF THE FIGHTING YANK" sits just on the other side of the sidewalk. Viquesney created both statues and according to the above website this is the only instance of both statues being in the same place.
Even though this waymark is about the Doughboy be sure to check out the Fighting Yank too, you will not regret any extra time it might take to look.
The Statue sits on the grounds of the Oil City VFW so even though you can get to them any time it would be nice if we could not look for this one in the late night hours.
