Planted in 1990 by Doug and Marcie Roe who were joined by Scott and Bonnie Sliver, the Dayton Vineyard church has grown to where in 2011 it has two campuses and over 2200 worshipers in attendance each week. The main campus in Beavercreek has a weekly attendance of 2000, while the North Dayton campus has 200.
Changing the building they worshiped in several times over the years, in 2007 the church was listed as one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America. But they realized that there was more than just growth in numbers, as the Lord called them to arrange the governance of the church into four pillars: Loving God, Loving People, Making Disciples, and Establishing Families. With that they gladly accepted when the Memorial Baptist Church gave them its facility on North Main Street in Dayton. From this campus the church began a weekly breakfast outreach to the community and gave away groceries once a month. Attendance today averages 200 at this important outreach ministry.
The music ministry is wonderful, which still reflects the influence John Wimber, who was part of the Righteous Brothers and was a founder of the Vineyard Association. The services are typical of megachurches in that they feature totally awesome and moving modern worship music coupled with a powerful message aimed at today's worshipers. As visitors, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home, helping us realize why the church had grown as it had.
