"The Berleman House was built between 1864 and 1868 (probably in 1865 after the end of the Civil War) by local builder Samual Morrison and prominent local architect Charles Spillman. In 1868 Herman Berleman, a German immigrant and a carpenter by trade, bought the house. Berlman constructed the frame addition on the rear of the structure in 1895. The Berleman familily lived in the house until 1962." - National Register Nomination
The house was scheduled for demolition by the City of Edwardsville however through the efforts of the Edwardsville Historic Preservation Commission the house was saved, restored and converted to an adaptive reuse as offices for a financial services company.
