Milan, Ohio is known for being the birthplace of Thomas Edison - inventor of the lightbulb among other things.

What is lesser known is that Edison received his initial lightbulb filaments from the bamboo trees near Yawata City, a suburb of Kyoto, Japan. Because of that connection Yawata and Milan agreed to become sister cities in 1984.

This monument can be found in a garden behind the Milan Historical Museum. There is no admission fee to enter the garden.
