Located in Joliet's Bicentennial Park, this slab of sidewalk...and steps, is set amongst many other historical markers concerning Joliet's early days. The text of this marker reads:
"Joliet's first sidewalks were of stone or wood. Stone from
these bluffs were cut and laid on both sides of Bluff Street
which was then 5' wider. Rev. J. H. Prentiss, organizer of
the presbyterian congregation, made his first home nestled
here under the bluffs. This is the last remaining slab from
the sidewalks along early Bluff St. W.J.B.P., Inc."
W.J.B.P. stand for Will Joliet Bicentennial Park.
