Located right outside Queen's Park, this benchmark is the first in a series of 11 precise benchmarks throughout Canada. Created for Canada's Centennial to honour the surveyors who helped establish the nation, the plaque by the benchmark gives the coordinates as well as distances between the other 10 benchmarks including a map of all 11.

Dedicated by John P. Roberts on June, 21, 1967.

A second plaque directly explains the significance of surveying in Canada.
