Located in Joliet's Bicentennial Park, this marker is similar to but defintiely separate from WMC1XX. This one reads:
"JOLIET'S FIRST STONE BUILDING
WAS CONSTRUCTED ON THIS
SITE BY MARTIN DEMMOND, IN
1834 HE QUARRIED LIMESTONE
FROM THESE BLUFFS FOR A
THREE STORY BUILDING
COMPRISED OF STORES, OFFICES
AND BALLROOM. COMPLETED IN
1835 THE CONVENTION TO
NOMINATE WILL COUNTY'S
FIRST OFFICIALS WAS HELD
HERE. SO MUCH LIMESTONE WAS
QUARRIED AND SENT
THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST
THAT JOLIET BECAME KNOWN
AS THE "STONE CITY".
