The Anglican Church of St. John the Evangelist was built in 1893 after serving soldiers of nearby Fort York. Families moving to the area provided a significant boom for the church. After the 2nd World War the number dwindled and the church was demolished in 1963, 100 years after it was built. The church itself was designed by Eden Smith.
The cornerstone itself is in good condition and open to the public.
