Priour discovered this combination of materials which challenged him as a sculptor and could evoke the importance that sky and water had for him…. His sculptures have a dual presence of durability and fragility, tracking time and its effects.

In Damian Priour’s sculpture, Transparent Strength, glass becomes a metaphor for water that seems to push against the Texas fossil stone in which it is wedged. Thick industrial glass turned on its smooth polished edges is anchored by two large limestone shapes made of 60 million year old fossil stone quarried in central Texas. Several more spheres of stone and glass are placed on the hill toward the intersection of Stonebrook and Parkwood. The sculpture serves as a memorial, with the name of former Frisco police officer Joe Preston Murphy engraved on the edge of the polished glass.
