The South Platte has notoriously been framed as 'too thick to drink, too thin to plow) due to its traditional lower flow except during Spring runoff. Cherry Creek merges with the South Platte at the location that eventually grew into Denver, Colorado, USA. At this location is Confluence Park where you can walk out into the actual confluence of these two rivers. The above coordinates are from the dock on the west side of the South Platte that gives the best photographic vantage of the confluence.

I worked as a Trail Ranger on the South Platte trail and worked to clear the river channel to allow the development of this recreational trail and flood prevention. (visit link) for more information about the recovery of this area.
